Dr. Nilotpal Das
MD (AIIMS Delhi), DNB, MNAMS, FRANZCP
Dr Nilotpal Das is a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and currently working as a consultant psychiatrist in Australia. However, he is incredibly grateful to the mentors and eminent professors of prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India who guided him to obtain MD in Psychiatry and also provided the nuances of the field. Working at National Drug Dependence Treatment at AIIMS, made him realised that people from his hometown Tripura, India were unable to access the facilities of a de-addiction centre due to geographical isolation and language barriers. Hence, he advocates the tailored approach of addiction, to benefit community even in the remote and rural area.
His vision: 'mates of addiction recovery', encourage to reduce the stigma attached to an alcoholic and his family and to provide necessary support at community level. He is currently guiding community members to develop evidence-based strategies to help an alcohol-dependent individual to overcome their day to day problems and to get back into the mainstream of society.
